Sunshine and Palm Trees

Last weekend I told New York “Bye Felicia” and ditched my down coat for some sandals, sun and sand. We spent a few days back home in sunny south Florida for a family wedding. My brother-in-law Danny was getting married and Leo was the best man.

The wedding was held on the intercoastal off Flagler Avenue in downtown West Palm Beach. The wedding day was beautiful and everyone looked stunning.

I spent the morning of the wedding getting ready with the bridesmaids. Makeup artist @orijahnelmua located in south Florida is slaying the makeover game and made us look incredibly flawless!

Snapped a quick selfie with the gorgeous bride (and my new sister-in-law) Mily before heading off to the wedding venue.

The wedding reception dinner was a traditional, flavorful paella dish catered by local Spanish food service company from Hialeah. We all partied and danced the night away at the reception. It was the perfect night out with my always handsome husband and wedding date.

Since I grew up in south Florida, coming back home is always very nostalgic for me. I love to go to all my favorite eateries and shops that we don’t have up in New York. If you’re ever in Palm Beach county and are looking for some good food in a fun atmosphere, two of my favorites are Guanabanas and  Rocco’s Tacos!

Guanabanas is located 20 minutes north of Palm Beach in Jupiter. This has always been a favorite retreat of mine mostly due to its very traditional Florida style and atmosphere. The restaurant sits right on the intercoastal and is surrounded by lots and lots of palm trees. Flavorful tropical drinks and appetizers are always flowing and live bands jam out almost daily. Be sure to check out their happy hour which runs everyday (yes, even on the weekend!) from 3-6PM.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar is home to their famous Taco Tuesday specials with $15 all you can eat tacos and $15 margarita pitchers every Tuesday. This restaurant boasts more of a true south Florida party atmosphere with an always packed house and patrons dancing in the aisles to top 40s hit music.

If you are a tequila drinker, definitely try my all time favorite drink on the menu – the Tijuana Punch. It’s a well blended mix of pineapple and vanilla infused Don Julio Tequila, orange juice and lemon juice; garnished with pineapple wedge and sugar rimmed glass. Can we say YUM?!

Rocco’s has several locations around south Florida. He has even recently expanded out of Florida and opened a restaurant in Brooklyn, NY! The location we went to this trip was in Palm Beach Gardens.

It’s always a great time being back in Florida…especially when it’s 80 degrees…in December. Summer time all year is all we Floridians know!

Being back home with friends and family was awesome way to close out this amazing year.

Hope your day is filled with sunshine and happiness!

XO,

Britt
